Challenges in the hotel market are the topic of a lecture at Festuris

Preferences in relation to hotels and the challenges for innovation, in a national scenario of stagnation in the construction of new developments.

The Tour House stage, in the Business & Innovation area, hosted a lecture by Leonardo Rispoli, on the topic of the Hotel Industry Outlook in the Brazilian Market. On this occasion, he presented data and made comparisons on consumer preferences in relation to hotels and the challenges for innovation, in a national scenario of stagnation in the construction of new developments.

"We are going to have an ecosystem parallel to that of the hotel industry, and we need to understand this. We need to understand that the market will move towards these issues and everyone will have to be prepared: hotels, studios, agencies, all the technology to serve this audience," he says.

According to Rispoli, the market is changing: while the hotel industry is worth around R$ 25 to R$ 30 billion, Airbnb is worth R$ 22 billion. “The hotel market is down, and what will happen is that hotels will have the opportunity to adapt to this new audience, and agencies will understand the changes,” he points out.

A major shift concerns the standardization of supply, to offer guests consistency and quality. "Hotel rates will only get more expensive. It will be difficult to find availability. And it's not because of technology, it's because no new hotels are being built, no new hotel rooms are being launched, the market has changed construction. We need to adapt to this market, because the ecosystem is not allowing it, there is no financing, and movement is very restricted."

“We often think of airfare as the villain, but when we compare this year with last year, it has obviously increased, but less than the average daily rate in Brazil,” concludes Leonardo.
