the initiatives represent 18 Brazilian states across all five regions of the country

The Brazilian Tour Operators Association (BRAZTOA) has announced the 64 semifinalist projects for the 2026 Braztoa Sustainability Award. Selected from 96 submissions received for this edition, the initiatives represent 18 Brazilian states across all five regions of the country, highlighting the diversity of solutions and reinforcing sustainability as a strategic pillar for the development of Brazil's tourism industry.

The semifinalist projects include initiatives developed by companies, destinations, civil society organizations, entrepreneurs, communities, and institutions that are driving meaningful change through innovative, responsible, and high-impact practices. The proposals reflect the diverse realities of Brazilian tourism, demonstrating how the sector can contribute to environmental conservation, cultural preservation, social inclusion, and the economic development of destinations.

Created in 2012, the Braztoa Sustainability Award is one of Brazil's most important and long-standing initiatives recognizing best practices in sustainable tourism. The award aims to identify, encourage, recognize, and promote projects that advance sustainability in an integrated manner, encompassing environmental, socio-cultural, economic, and governance aspects.

Over the years, the award has established itself as a source of inspiration for the entire tourism industry, encouraging the dissemination of solutions capable of positively transforming Brazilian tourism. It is also internationally recognized by UN Tourism as one of the sector's most significant sustainability initiatives.

The announcement of the semifinalists marks the beginning of a new phase in the evaluation process. Project leaders will now be required to submit supporting documentation demonstrating the results achieved and the impacts generated by their initiatives. In some categories, candidates will also deliver pitch presentations to the judging committee, which will select the finalists and, subsequently, the winners of the 2026 edition.
